Leave The Pats Alone
You know what I don’t get? Why so many people hate the Patriots. I really don’t get it. Is it because they’re good? Is it because Tom Brady looks like a God and is one hell of an athlete? The man can’t help that he was blessed with an arm and is one of the best quarterbacks in all of NFL history. For years now, all I’ve ever heard from just 90% of the football fans I have come across is that the Patriots are trash and since the deflategate happened, arguably one of the NFL’s biggest controversies ever, all I’ve heard is the word “cheater” fly out of people’s mouths right when they hear the teams name. Speaking of the deflategate, let’s talk about it. Now, let’s get one thing straight, right when the deflategate surfaced, every Patriot-hater in America jumped on to this wagon and refused to let go. Everyone finally had a real reason and more reason to hate “The Most Hated NFL Team.” However, as a born and raised fellow Patriots lover and dedicated fan, I am here to say that I even had my own doubts about my team as well.
Now, unlike most people, I went ahead and did my research. Of course, there were the articles that blamed Brady, then there were the articles that just blamed the locker room attendant and the equipment manager, but then I came across an article that changed my views and it showed me that the Patriots wee innocent.
According to Patriots, a middle school kid named Ben Goodell goes to school in Lynn, Massachusetts and did his science fair project on how the deflategate to prove everyone else wrong and to show all the haters that Brady is innocent. He did a project called “How Weather Conditions Affect PSI of a Football.” He took footballs and exposed them to humidity, snow, and wind chill, Goodell was telling the Daily Item, “Every time, it dropped 2 PSI. The lowest PSI recorded during Deflategate was 2 PSI under proper inflation. I had [the football] at proper inflation when I started.” MIT professor John Leonard, who is also an Eagles fan, even gave a lecture on the deflategate and knew as well that the science behind it all had to be true.
When I saw this article come along, the first thing I did was read all the comments. What do I see? Of course, there were haters. “Why didn’t they just reflate the ball?” “It didn’t effect the Colts. Give it up.” No, sir. YOU give it up. A SEVENTH GRADER JUST SCHOOLED EVERYONE USING SCIENCE. THIS KID ENDED UP WINNING THE SCIENCE FAIR. Now, I also do understand that there were text messages and whatever, but those are so easy to tamper with. With technology these days, you can definitely frame anyone and make it look believable. But hey, isn’t there a saying that goes something like, “Science is never wrong”? I’ll take it.
My dream one day is to see all Patriots-haters just give it a rest, accept the fact the team is just that good, let go of a case that’s not even relevant anymore and that it is nothing more than just more of an excuse for people to hate the team, and move the hell on.
