Ampersand Day at Emory & Henry College
Ampersand Day at Emory & Henry College is a day where students take a day off from classes, and present different presentations on different topics that they have either studied all semester long, all year long, or even a collaboration of all their work and everything they have done the four (or more) years they have been here.
On Ampersand Day, I watched my roommate and best friend of four years talk about the Interfaith Literacy here at EHC. Her presentation discussed the lack of cultural diversity on campus, and what steps we could take in order to improve it. Additionally, she also talked about how even though you can major in religion here at this college, how come most of the religions studied here are Christian-faith based? She spoke with elegance and confidence. She has been working on this thesis, presentation, and though since she has entered college. Her end goal is get the interfaith room that is located in the bottom of the chapel moved somewhere where all students of all religions feel safe to approach it.
